I was so excited to shoot Kyle and Stephanie’s wedding. I had met them both the year before when I shot Stephanie’s lovely mum’s Mairead’s wedding. They both live in Los Angeles and travelled along with family and friends to celebrate their big day in Dublin. The story of how they met is so romantic I have to tell you. They are both talented actors and singers. Kyle was starring in Burt Bacharach the musical in the west end in London. They were auditioning for a female role. Burt himself told Kyle he needed to get himself a lovely Irish girl. In walks the gorgeous Stephanie and nails the part! Roll on a couple of years and a true love story and here we are on their wedding day. Kyle took Burt’s advice literally!
The day started with the ladies getting ready in the iconic Shelbourne Hotel. They had a beautiful suite for all the preparations and the champagne was flowing. Stephanie decided she wanted to walk the short distance from the hotel to Fallon and Byrne where their ceremony was taking place. The weather gods where shining on us and the sun was shining. All the ladies braved the streets and despite the heels we made it to the venue on time.
They hosted a beautiful and intimate ceremony for all of their family and friends. There was much laughter throughout with a letter read out from the man himself Burt congratulating the happy couple.
After the ceremony the guests headed to the rooftop bar in Fade Street Social across the road for drinks and canapes. We strolled out onto the streets to capture their big day. Their photos really are a love letter to both themselves and Dublin. We wandered down Grafton Street where they had their first dance to a fantastic jazz band playing outside Brown Thomas. We went on to Trinity College where Stephanie studied. By the time we got to Anne’s lane a very kind barman from Zozimus bar came out with some bubbles for the newlyweds. After a quick hello to Phil Lynnott we headed down by Appleby’s jewelers where Stephanie used to work. The staff all came out to greet the happy couple. We rambled into the George’s Street Arcade for more photos. All along the way we were stopped by well wishers sitting outside the many bars on our route. Onwards and Kyle and Stephanie arrived into Fade Street to the cheers of family and friends.
The guests took the short stroll back across to the function room which looked beautiful. With their guests seated they made their grand entrance to celebrate and party the night away. A truly unforgettable day for this wonderful couple!
