Karl and Rachel | A Day to remember in Druid’s Glen

Updated: Nov 15, 2022

I knew Rachel’s Dad Karl as he is also a photographer. I was delighted when he gave me the honour of shooting his daughter and her partner Karl’s big day. No pressure at all!!!

I arrived at Rachel’s family home in Ringsend on a rainy Saturday. The weather wasn’t going to dampen anyone’s spirits in this house and the atmosphere was electric. The preparations for the day were well underway. I was a thad envious of Rachel’s stunning Jimmy Choo shoes and spent more time then I should have photographing them but can you blame me?

Once the Jimmy Choos were firmly on Rachel’s feet she was ready to meet Karl in the local church to exchange their wedding vows. As its Ireland the rain decided to pour and the bridesmaids made valiant dashes into the church. Rachal and her Dad both walked calmly from the car into the church not minding the raindrops. Karl was delighted to see his gorgeous bride. After a beautiful ceremony all roads lead to Druid’s glen resort.

Rachel and Karl were greeted with bubbles and soon after we headed off in a golf buggy for photos. Rachel loves balloons so I made sure to have a big bunch of red balloons for the occasion. The grounds of the resort are stunning and we got some amazing shots. We had a slight mishap when our golf buggy refused to climb a hill. Karl and the bridesmaids gave it a push up the hill in between the laughter.

We started the bridal party shots outside and quickly had to run for cover from the rain. I brought studio lights as I knew the weather was going to be bad and we got some beautiful family shots inside the resort.

The moet was flowing and soon it was time for dinner. The function room was set up beautifully. Karl and Rachel are chocoholics so there was a special chocolate bar for each guest to mark the occasion.

After some wonderful speeches it was time to enjoy a fantastic meal and get ready to party the night away, a truly memorable day for a wonderful couple.
